Janmashtami sees low turnout in nervous Mumbai

Mumbai: The threat of swine flu had an impact on the Janmashtami festival in Mumbai on Friday.

Though more than 400 organisations set up dahi handis all over the city, the turnout of spectators

was far lower than in previous years.

 

Governor, CM extend greetings on Janmashtami, I-Day

LUCKNOW: Governor BL Joshi and chief minister Mayawati have greeted people of the state on the

 occasion of Krishna Janmashtami while wishing them a happy and prosperous life.

“Teachings of Bhagwad Gita is still relevant in our life and the festival will definitely strengthen the

social fabric of our society,” said the governor.

The chief minister said that Krishna was an inspiration for all and his greatness would show way to

the human race for generations.

 

 

 

Rainy start to Janmashtami festivities in Delhi

 A brief spell of rain marked the beginning of the Janmashtami festivities in the capital on Friday,

raising hopes of a pleasant day ahead.  According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD),

the capital received 6.8 mm of rainfall until 8.30 am. More showers are expected in the course of

the day.”It will mostly be cloudy skies through the day with one or two spells of rain and thundershowers,
